1.Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes

Chateau d'Yquem was established in December of 1593 when Jacques de Sauvage exchanged other properties that he owned for the 'House of Yquem'. Sauvage acquired Yquem from the French monarchy.
In 1785, during the reign of Louis XVI, Francoise Josephine de Sauvage (the "Lady of Yquem") married Louis Amedee de Lur Saluces. He was the godson of Louis XV and Lady Victoire de France. Monsieur Lur Saluces died just 3 years later but his wife focused her energies on improving and caring for the Chateau and the surrounding estate. Her efforts established the real basis for the estate that we know today. The size of Chateau d'Yquem was the same in 1788 as it is today.
Through the efforts of successive generations of the Lur Saluces family, the property gained in quality and prestige. It is a very remarkable story considering that the estate managed to stay intact and with such a tremendous reputation from the time of Louis XVI to Napoleon III and through the French Revolution. Of particular note were the efforts of Romain-Bertrand (grandson of the "Lady of Yquem") and his grandson Bertrand. It was mostly through their direction that Chateau d'Yquem became the commercial property that it is today.
After a bitter split in the Lur Saluces family in the late 1990's, Chateau d'Yquem was purchased by a subsidiary of the LVMH group (Louis Vitton - Moet - Hennesy). Count A. de Lur Saluces still works with the property and maintains the levels of quality that have set this estate above all others in the region.
The wines are intensely concentrated and sweet with high levels of acidity to balance out the sweetness. While the wines are delicious when young, the true nature of the wines of d'Yquem are only shown when the wines have decades of bottle age. These wines become complex, luscious and honeyed after 15 to 20 years and can last for a century or longer if properly stored.

2. Chateau Lafite-Rothschild

Chateau Lafite-Rothschild occupies the finest crests in Pauillac. Throughout the middle ages, up until 1798, the seigneurs of Lafite were the high administrators of justice in the country. It was through officers of their choice that they exercised this right. The chateau was bought by Baron James de Rothschild in 1868, but he never saw it.
At the time he was old and sick, but his three sons, Alphonse, Gustave and Edmond liked the idea of pouring Lafite as their own wine. It was already the world's most prestigious wine. Many records refer to the wines of Lafite including the well known archives of Thomas Jefferson who frequently purchased this wine for the first president of the United States, George Washington. Lafite represents the very best that wine can be.
Lafite is fermented in 27 vats of Bosnian oak and spends between 24-30 months in French oak barriques. The whole process from picking the grapes to bottling is strictly supervised by Eric de Rothschild, the present administrator on behalf of the family. At picking time a very severe selection process is carried out and in very abundant vintages as much as half of the crop is eliminated.

3. Chateau Latour

At the beginning of the 18th century, Chateau Latour started to be highly recognized around the world, thanks to the reconquest of the British market and the development of the wine business in northern Europe. The aristocracy and other wealthy groups of consumers became very enthusiastic about a few great estates, of which Latour was one. And that was how Thomas Jefferson, Ambassador of the United States in France, and future President, discovered this wine in 1787. At that time, a cask of Chateau Latour was already worth twenty times as much as one of ordinary Bordeaux wine.

The reputation of Chateau Latour was consolidated during the 19th century. It was confirmed in 1855, when the government of Napoléon III decided to classify the estates of the Médoc and the Graves for the International Exhibition in Paris: Chateau Latour was classified as First Growth.

The commercial and economic development in Europe, at the end of the 19th century, and stonger relations with the Bordeaux Wine Trade, created new customers, increasingly interested in good wine, and appreciative of their quality. The existing Chateau was built during this "golden age", between 1862 and 1864.

4. Chateau Margaux
Chateau Margaux is located in the commune of Margaux, Bordeaux. Chateau Margaux has the unique privilege in Bordeaux of bearing the name of its appellation d'origineChateau.

Margaux was founded in the 1400's.  Once the residence of Edward III, King of England, it was one of the most stately fortified chateaux in Guyenne. Over the centuries, the property changed ownership several times. In 1804, the Marquis of La Colonilla acquired the property, razed the old Gothic manor-house and built in its place the chateau which still stands today.

In 1977 the property was purchased by Laura and Andre Mentzelopoulos. Lavish amounts of money were immediately spent on the vineyards and the winemaking facilities. Emile Peynaud was retained as a consultant to oversee the vinification of the wine. Apprehensive observers expected it would take several vintages before all the improvements would show up in the wine. It took just one vintage, 1978, for the world to see just how great Chateau Margaux could be. Unfortunately, Andre Mentzelopoulos died before he could see the fruits of his labor. His wife Laura and daughter Corinne run the show now with the expertise of the winemaking team of director Paul Pontallier, cellar master Jean Grangerou and consulting oenologist Emile Peynaud.

Time honored techniques still prevail here. Harvesting of the grapes is always done by hand so as to discard grapes that are overripe or unripe. The wine is fermented in oak vats. Once the assemblage has been performed , the wine is placed in new oak barrels from the Troncais Forest for two years. These barrels are always new and most are handcrafted by the estate's cooper. Racked several times and clarified with six egg whites per barrel after one year.

We can provide the wines list as follow:

1er Grand Cru Classe

1988    RMB 7,600
1993    RMB 4,800
1990    RMB 23,000
2003    RMB 13,800

5. Chateau Mouton Rothschild
Mouton Rothschild is one of the most fascinating properties in the Medoc. More than any other Chateau, it has been the subject of countless articles in newspapers and magazines.

This interest is due, in some measure, to the fact that Chateau Mouton Rothschild is the only chateau ever to achieve promotion under the classification of the Medoc.

In 1855, when the original classification was made, it had to be satisfied with the top placing in the second crus. This was probably due to the fact that the property had been bought in a relatively neglected state by Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild two years before the classification took place. This meant he had no opportunity to make the estate and the vineyard respectable.

Mouton was then no more than a farmhouse and it was not until 1880 that James Rothschild built the elegant dwelling now known as Petit-Mouton, adjoining the chais. The property continued in the family of Rothschild and Baron Philippe took over the running of the property in 1922. He was determined to raise Mouton to a premier grand cru. One of the first things that he did was to introduce mandatory chateau bottling - a fairly revolutionary step for those times. It gave him and his team an opportunity to give wine drinkers the world over an absolute guarantee of genuineness and quality.

Today under the ownership of Baroness Philipine de Rothschild the chateau maintains its ranking as producing the finest wines of Bordeaux, and perhaps the finest red wine in the world.
We can provide the wines list as follow:

6. Chateau Haut-Brion
The only first-growth to be American owned and Bordeaux's first internationally acclaimed winemaking estate.

Chateau Haut Brion dates back to 1525 when Jean de Pontac married Jeanne de Bellon who brought to him in her dowry the land of Haut Brion. Illustrious owners have marked Haut Brion for more than four centuries: admirals, an archbishop, a Grand Marshal of France, a Governor of Guyenne, three mayors of Bordeaux, Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Perigord (at the time he was Minister of Relations for the Consulate) and more recently the Ambassador of the United States in Paris, Clarence Douglas Dillon, who was also Minister of Finance in the U.S. when J.F. Kennedy was president.

Today, the Duchess de Mouchy, granddaughter of Clarence Dillon, is chairperson of the public limited company of "Domaine Clarence Dillon".  In the 1960's, Haut Brion was the first of the great growths to innovate with new stainless steel fermentation vats.

The Grand Vin at Chateau Haut-Brion is fermented in stainless steel vats and aged in new oak barrels for 24-27 months. Clarified with six egg whites per barrel. The winemaking is managed by Jean Delmas, who believes in a controlled but rather hot, short fermentation.

A complex bouquet of ripe fruit, tobacco and mineral, earthy scents. Rich, ripe, medium to full-bodied and well structured. A wine that seems to balance power and elegance, richness and harmony perfectly.

We can provide the wines list as follow:

1er Grand Cru Classe
1974     RMB 4,900
1978     RMB 4,900
1981     RMB 7,500

7. Cheateau Petrus
During the 19th century, the domaine belonged to the Arnaud family. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Arnauds founded the "Societe Civile du Chateau Petrus", the shares of which Madame Loubat began to acquire in 1925. By the end of World War II, Madame Loubat was the sole proprietor of Chateau Petrus. At this time the establishment of Jean-Pierre- Moueix, a company of wine merchants from Libourne, had the monopoly for its distribution. In 1961, Chateau Petrus went to Madame Loubats nephew and niece: Madame Lacoste and Monsieur Lignac. Since then, Jean-Pierre Moueix has bought Monsieur Lignac's shares.
Under the direction of Jean-Pierre's son, Christian, and their oenologist, Jean Claude Berrouet, Petrus receives the care of a pampered child. The grapes are picked only in the afternoon, when the morning dew has evaporated, so as not to risk even the slightest dilution of quality. Vinification and aging: The composition of the topsoil and the subsoil at Petrus is almost all clay (whereas in adjacent properties the soil is a mixture of gravel-sand or clay-sand). Merlot flourishes in this soil and for this reason; Petrus' vineyard is planted with 95% Merlot. The vines are unusually old and are only replanted after they reach 70 years of age. Replanting takes place plot by plot, instead of vine by vine, in order to guarantee that the average age of vines is maintained at a high level. Fermented in cement vats, the wine is aged in 100% new oak barrels for 22-28 months. Clarified with 5 fresh egg whites per barrel. Never filtered for fear of removing some of its remarkable richness.
Bordeaux's most intensely concentrated, richly flavored and unique red wine. An incredible power, depth and richness yet a remarkable balance with penetrating aromas of ripe mulberry, black currant and fruit and spicy vanilla oak, setting it apart from all Bordeaux's finest wines
We can provide the wines list as follow:
1er Grand Cru Classe
1982   RMB 60,000
1983   RMB 18,000
1988   RMB 19,800
2002   RMB 19,800
